this week-end was grey at best... this picture was taken during a short trip outside while it was "only raining" between sleet showers... As much as I like taking pictures of little ice pellets, I like my camera too much to go outside while it was sleeting! Still, I enjoyed the physalis which are now looking like 3D lace constructs!

another memory of the summer! I'm not sure what happened to this red damselfly, but it can fly alright! took me a while, and a lot of 'nettle escape' to get a decent shot! I love winter but I do miss the insects!

do not believe from this shot that today was shiny and warm... I have no idea how I succeeded to capture the one and only beam of sunlight... but I do know I was crawling on the wet (melting frozen dew and rain) grass for a while! only after did I realize that, for once, I did not have to stop taking pictures to warm my hands!!! love my undergloves great gift for a macro lover in the winter!!

today I was taking a nice close-up of some reeds in the sunlight when a heron, that was probably hiding in the reeds just flew out a few yards from me... making me understand why some people have two cameras!! it takes precious seconds to change from close-up setup to the fast moving bird... still, I am glad of pic! and, for the story... this poor heron kept going just a bit ahead of us... therefore being scared 4 more times as we walked around the lake! my favorite 'scare' was this little boy shouting "HERON!!!! look a HERON" until the heron fled, accompanied by a cute (and shouted) "bye Mr Heron"

I was walking near the lake, looking at a tree that fell during the last storm... thinking that it was sad it died there (though I do use it as cover to sneak up on some otherwise oblivious crested grebes!)... but it is so much alive with all this lichen growing on it! I spent quite some time playing with perspective and bokeh... what is so special about that one pic? I just like that one tiny piece pointing toward the sun!

just a few days ago this beautiful red-bellied woodpecker explored this 'woodpecker feeder'... just a few days ago but already a memory of my vacation... turning the feeder was a great idea

after the snow, here is a sunny day in december...

one year of pic, one hastag on instagram... I feel I made a lot of progress, I took pictures I would never have tried before, I explored condition less than perfect (raining, foggy...) and forced myself to find something... I learned a lot and fully intend to continue on next year!!

today was not just a rainy day... it was a foggy rainy day! the heron in the tree on the side of the road was too well hidden by the fog to take a picture! the lake looked like snow with the reflection of the fog! still succeeded to get a picture that tastes like the end of the year... as a side note, the red in the drop is my umbrella!

a spiderweb (the spider is somewhere, hard to see except when moving), morning dew and a little bit of sun... november beauty!

you can try to imagine what the car drivers passing by were thinking seeing me crawling on the wet grassy area between the two side of the road with my camera!

rainy week-end but no drop picture this time... on my way home I saw a little white 'blob' on the rivlet... thought it was probably a lost ball... then decided to go back to check... just in case... and yeah, it was a heron playing "where's Waldo" with me...
